What Does a Screen Room Divider Do?

In many people’s homes these days they often find that they don’t have enough space for everything – or at least they don’t have enough separate rooms or areas in their home so that they can keep things organized. This is where screen room dividers come into play.

What a screen room divider (also known as curtain room dividers) does is it provides an artificial wall (or partition) that is just as useful for practical reasons as it is for mental ones. By this I mean that sometimes visually blocking off an area of clutter helps you focus and clear your mind so that you can think, concentrate and relax.

These curtain room dividers are also used to separate a large room into two (or more) smaller rooms. Let’s say you have some guests over and you’re all sleeping in the same (large) room. You can use a screen room divider to separate them from you and to give them some privacy when they’re getting changed and sleeping.

They are often made from fabric and are supported by small pieces of wooden doweling that are fed through the material (think of how the sail on a boat is made and this is not too far off). The great thing about these is that while they have all of the benefits of an actual wall they’re not permanent. What I mean by this is that just as easily as you put them up you can take them down again (either forever or to change the style). Another major advantage of screen room dividers is that they’re extremely cheap. If you buy these curtains from a shop you’ll be surprised at how cheap they are, but if you decide to make one yourself you’ll save even more money.

All you need to make one is a piece of fabric of the required length, some hooks to hang it onto and possible some wood to give it a solid frame (although this is not necessary since you can always just let it hand down). The advantage of making a screen divider yourself also means that you can make it to be as big or as small as you need. When buying from a shop you often have to pick from a selection of sizes – whether that is right for you or not.
