Interior Room Dividers – Everything You Need to Know
Oftentimes in a person’s house you’ll find that there’s a room that’s just doesn’t quite work in terms of living. By this I mean that it’s either too big (where it should really be two rooms instead of one) or that it’s incorporating too many things into one space (which can clutter up the place, both in a mental and physical way). One way to solve this problem is to divide this room up, either by building an actual wall (which is expensive, messy and time consuming) or by using interior room dividers to create a physical division between the two spaces, but that can be taken away if necessary.
The most popular kinds of these are curtain room dividers, which can be bought from several different home shops these days. These kinds of things are especially useful in city studio apartments, where often a person will only have one large room with which to live in. There’s nothing wrong with having one big room to live in, but it can be nice to break it up into smaller sections, each with a different theme or purpose (such as your ‘office corner’, the area where you relax and watch TV and the area where you eat food).
When using curtains as room dividers, it’s a good idea to have it so that they can be drawn (i.e. retracted) in the same way that real curtains can. In order to do this you’ll need to have them on a curtain track that’s attached to the ceiling. It pays to have these kinds of interior curtain room dividers near to a wall; so that they have something to be attached to when withdrawn (otherwise they’ll just be dangling in midair). If this is not possible, you might want to think about using screen dividers instead. These sit on the floor and are usually made up from a few different wooden panels that are attached together in a concertina style. These works well for any kind of studio living, since they can be moved around, folded up and stored away anywhere when not needed, and because they’re not restricted to only being in one area of the room (like curtain room dividers are).
If you do live in a studio flat it is definitely worth thinking about how you view (or would like to view) each area of your home so that you can divide it up accordingly. Many people find that when they have it split up they can focus better in the area they’re in.
