Finding the Right Bathroom Window Curtains for Your Home

Few rooms are as neglected as the bathroom when it comes to decoration. That is, it seems that a lot of the decoration is thrown in there just to make sure that the room is decorated; there is usually little plan or reason to what is put on display. With the amount of time spent in the bathroom, it seems a shame to neglect it in this way. A good place to start decorating properly is with your bathroom window curtains, since they play such a big role in the look and feel of the room.

Although bathroom window curtains may seem limited to when addressing privacy issues, there are a number of problems that they address in terms of purely functionality perspective. Firstly, they keep out flying insects when the window is open and they also allow light in when it is available. As most bathrooms have windows of a decent size, bathroom curtains also act as the one of the largest decorative features of the bathroom. Because of the rather nice mixture of functionality and design, it is a good idea to seriously think about what your bathroom curtains looks like and what purpose(s) it should fulfill.

The best material to use for bathroom drapes is one that is both reasonably translucent and thick enough to not blow around too much. You do not want something that is going to flap easily in the breeze; besides letting in insects, you also lose a certain amount of privacy if the wind is going fast enough. The reason for the translucency is not just a privacy issue; a room that lets the light one is on that helps you see dirty areas when you clean, and is somewhat cheery when it is used. Keep in mind that means that the bathroom window curtain serves you best when it is made of something either pastel or light in color; dark colors only serve to make the bathroom dreary, and so should be avoided. Past that anything goes.

There are a number of ways you can go on this, and the possibilities are seemingly endless. Saying this, it’s a good idea to try and establish a theme within the bathroom, and then to make sure that bathroom window drapes match it. Try to be fair to anyone that may use the bathroom; too much pink is never a good thing. On the other hand, you can never go wrong with some sort of water-themed bathroom (where the colors are mostly light blues and greens). If you do go for metal, brass is always a good choice. Chrome looks great, but is harder to maintain. Marble tiles are also usually a good bet. Once you have the rest of the bathroom designed, go for the bathroom curtains and make sure that they match the rest of the bathroom.

The bottom line here is that you most likely spend a lot of time in the bathroom (although there are invariably those times when you do not want to), so it helps if your bathroom is a place where you feel comfortable.
